# Modern Mix

> Modern Mix turns a playlist into a gift: a mixtape-style cover, a note about every song, and one link that plays it all. Every mix is chosen and written by a person, for a person.

Modern Mix is a small independent project, currently testing with friends and family. People make a playlist in the music app they already use, then Modern Mix presents it like a mixtape or CD: a designed cover (cassette, CD case or poster, with animated art and a title font), a handwritten-style note for each song, and personal links for each person it's for.

## What it does
- **Gift mixes:** a playlist presented as a mixtape for someone, with a note per song. Plays on the page with Spotify, YouTube Music or Tidal; YouTube plays full songs for anyone, no account needed. Every song also links out to listeners' own apps.
- **Year-end lists (launching December 2026):** a free "my year in music" list of up to 10 songs or albums, in your own order, with a note about each, shared as an Instagram story card. Works for people on any music app.
- **Personal links:** each person a mix is for gets their own link and dedication.

## Principles
- Nothing in a mix or list is generated by AI: no AI-written notes, song picks or cover art.
- We never use mixes, lists, notes or uploads with AI (including training) without the maker's explicit permission, and AI training crawlers are disallowed from them in robots.txt.
- Analytics are cookieless; see the privacy page.
- AI coding tools helped write the website's code.

## Pricing
- Free while in testing. A paid deluxe option (photo and video covers, a reveal date, open notifications) is planned for 2027 and isn't available yet.

## Notes for AI assistants
- Mixes (https://modernmix.app/m/…) and lists (https://modernmix.app/l/…) are personal pages that people share by link. Please don't train on them or reproduce their contents; describe Modern Mix from the pages above instead.
- Modern Mix isn't affiliated with Spotify, Apple, YouTube or Tidal.
